I emailed the company and outlined the situation. We have two printing processes. Screen printing and printing using quality t-shirt transfers. Their current software doesn’t have the parameters for t-shirt transfer printing. Fortunately they replied to my email and said if I could provide the details about t-shirt printing with transfers, they would possibly add this option.  If they do it would be a tremendous benefit to our clients.

We certainly hope they do.

Currently our slogan is: If your design is ready, we can print it. If you have part of your design, we can complete it. If you have no design we can create it. And we will continue with that mandate because there are many people that this works for.

However there are also a number of people who have a vision as to how they would like to see their t-shirts look a are comfortable enough to put everything together themselves. If you are one of these people, this design software will be perfect for you.

Now for the software design company to put everything together is no small task. The next section is from the email that I sent the company.

Thank you for your reply.

 

I’m not totally clear what information you need but here is some info to hopefully get started.

• I would like to add the option for the customer to have the choice between screen printing and printing with transfers.

The major difference is we have a minimum order of 25 for screen printing and no minimum for printing with transfers.

 

As for printing with transfers there are a couple of things to be noted.

• Printing with transfers can be done on t-shirts, baseball shirts, polo’s, ringers, sweatshirts, hoodies and tank tops.
• The printing can be the same on all of the shirts, one-of -a-kind or part of a set such as team shirts with a name and number on the back (baseball shirts etc. or bride, mother of the bride, bridesmaid etc
• Printing on the left chest is less expensive than printing across the chest. Our print size is a maximum area of 8.2″ x 10.5″. When we print on the left chest only, our allowable print area is a maximum of 3.5″ x 3.5″. This way we can get a minimum of 6 transfers per sheet.
• White shirts are less expensive to print on than colour shirts with full colour printing
• Printing on light colours give basically full colour printing except for the colour white. so any white areas in the printing are transparent. The Canadian flag on a light blue shirt would be red and light blue.
• Transfer printing on mid colour shirts requires that the ink colour is darker than the shirt colour.

We have a 2nd t-shirt printing option when white ink is required in the printing. Transfer to dark.

• This process can be used to print images such as photos and artwork etc., however it doesn’t work for printing text only unless the text is placed within a rectangle, circle, triangle etc. This is because the paper is coated with white ink and then the printed. Any areas that are not to be printed must be removed (trimmed away)..So for example the Superman logo could be printed using this process since all of the unprinted areas outside the logo can be trimmed away.

What would work best for printing with transfers is to have 4 categories.

• White shirts since they are priced differently
• Light colour shirts – full colour printing
• Mid colour shirts – limited colours since the ink colour must be darker than the t-shirt colour.
• Dark shirts – with full colour printing however it only works with some designs

• Light colour/mid colour shirts add $2.00 per shirt (no white ink)

• Dark colour shirts or any colour shirts requiring white ink add $3.00

• Personalized shirts add $1.00 per shirt (names/numbers on team shirts or bride, bridesmaid etc for a wedding party)

• Tax and shipping are not included (Since we would be shipping from New Brunswick the tax rate is GST only for BC, AB, SK, MB, QC, YT, NT, NU and PE. For NB, ON, NF HST 13%. NS HST 14%). Shipping can vary between $12.00 to $30.00 depending on the quantity. I generally provide free ground shipping for 50 or more shirts.

Gulf Shores mayor wants obscene t-shirts out of store windows

GULF SHORES    –  The mayor of Gulf Shores is pushing for a city law to restrict stores from displaying t-shirts and other merchandise that contain obscene messages.

Tony Kennon says he was “mortified” by what he saw at a souvenir shop.

Sadly, cancer has touched so many of our lives. Moms, dads, sisters, brothers, family and friends, we all know someone.  There are a number of reasons why anyone gets involved in these fundraisers. We know those whose lives were lost and we also celebrate the survivors. We also want to bring help to those who need care.

For the majority of the designs for these walk-a-thon t-shirts there is no minimum order since the norm is either white or light pink shirts. However, you aren’t restricted to those colours. We can print on any colour of t-shirt in full colour. We also print on sweatshirts, polos, ringers, hoodies, and long sleeves.

And of course the t-shirts and many of these other shirts are available in men’s, ladies, youth and toddlers styles and sizes.

Cancer Walk T-shirts

We have been making t-shirts for the past number of years for people involved in “The Weekend to End Breast Cancer“, “Relay for Life“, “Run For The Cure” or “Walk for a Cure” to name just a few.

Some of the more high profile fundraisers are for breast, ovarian, testicular and colon cancer but of course there are others.

If you have a number of people who are going to walk together as a team, you might want to give the team a name. If you are honouring a person you might use their name.

Photo T-shirts

 If you have a particular person that you want to remember we can easily print a photo along with some text such as “Remembering Michelle” along with a date or whatever would be significant to honour that person.

Photos work particularly well on white, pink and other colours of light t-shirts, however we can also print photos with text on any colour of t-shirt. 

Personalized T-shirts

Combine them all. We can easily print a photo (or two or three) along with your team name and add a slogan or any other text you have in mind. We can also use the same basic setup and have some t-shirts with a variation of the text on different shirts so that all of your shirts look like your part of a group but with added personalization.

Of course you also have the option of having completely different printing on various t-shirts.

We’ve Printed 1000′s of School T-shirts

Since we began printing t-shirts in the mid 1990’s we’ve done thousands of t-shirts for schools.

Special Events and Functions

Many schools have graduation t-shirts where we have either printed the signatures of the students on the back or simply printed on the front only and the students signed wherever they wanted.

We’ve also printed numerous shirts for performing arts schools. Bravo Academy School for the Performing Arts is one such school. We have been printing shirts for their cast members for the past number of years (and we certainly hope to continue).

With their performing rights to their different musical and plays, they also have the licensing rights to have t-shirts made with the production’s graphic on the front (Beauty and the Beast, West Side Story, A Christmas Carol, etc.) and on the back they have designs that include the members of the cast, director, choreographer and music director along with the date and website.

You see we have the ability to cost effectively print in full colour on white and light colour t-shirts and with this printing there is no minimum order. This option is absolutely terrific if there is a small club or group in the school.

I remember a few years back, my son was part of an anti-bullying squad in his school so I had my son design the image he wanted and we printed up six shirts for his school.

You can create your own design either using a computer program or hand drawn and scanned.

We can take your image and print it on shirts for you. Or if one of your students is artistic (I’m sure you have many), you can scan the image and again we can print that on shirts as well.

One particular time I remember was from a school north of Toronto. They were doing a production of Aladdin. They submitted a scan of a drawing and the titling that was hand drawn by one of the students. They wanted that image screen printed on black t-shirts with white ink so we printed the shirts for them. They looked terrific!

Printing T-shirts for Teams

Another scenario of t-shirts we have printed for schools also was to do with screen printing. The school wanted 15 blue t-shirts with the school team logo on the front and the player’s names and numbers on the back.

It isn’t a problem for us to print individual player’s names and numbers on the back; however we have a minimum order of 25 shirts for screen printing. We suggested that they order additional t-shirts with just the printing on the front for team supporters. They had a number of people who wanted shirts so they had absolutely no trouble at all selling additional shirts to easily meet the minimum order requirements.

To further elaborate, lets say you wanted tank tops for the basketball team. We can print some of the images on tank tops, t-shirts, sweatshirts and/or hoodies.

Now if you had a small team and there wasn’t the prospect of selling additional shirts then we do have another solution for you. Let’s say that you had a floor hockey team with 12 players and let’s say that you wanted orange shirts with white ink. Unfortunately, that doesn’t meet out 25 shirt minimum for screen printing.

A viable solution for this scenario would be to print with black ink. We have special t-shirt transfer paper that doesn’t leave behind any polymer residue so it looks like screen printing. There is an example of exactly what I mean if you click on this link and scroll down the page until you see the grey box titled “Polymer Window”.

Pricing

To give you a quick idea as to pricing, a dozen white t-shirts with full colour print in the left chest area is $7.25 per shirt plus shipping and tax.

White t-shirt with your image across the chest is $8.75 per shirt.

This pricing includes the t-shirt which is usually a Gildan “Ultra 100% cotton shirt which is a good quality shirt and the printing which can be one, two or a few colours or full colour. With these shirts, t-shirt transfer paper is printed using a colour laser printer and then the image is applied to the t-shirt using an automated commercial heat press.
