From Brian Hawthorn
Hello Friend;
Thank you for visiting our website. As you can readily tell, we focus on tee shirt printing.
Whether you are looking for printed tshirts for yourself, your group, your school, your team, a special event or your project, and if you have your own design or if you just have an idea we can help you.
In fact, we even offer personalized t-shirts.
We specialize in printing using t-shirt transfers applied to the t-shirts with an automated commercial heat press.
We also do screen printing.
We have broken down our printed tshirts processes into three categories. These categories are what we call:
- Process 1 — Tee shirt printing on white and light colour t-shirts.
- Process 2 — Printing some images on dark t-shirts or where white is crucial in the printed tshirts.
- Process 3 — Screen printing
Using Process 1 and Process 2, we can make your printed tshirts in any quantity whether you need just 1, a few, a dozen or several dozen. Any amount. If you need 52 then just order 52.
And personalized t-shirts are easy. Names, numbers or text!
If you require larger quantities with only one or two colours (you can have up to six colours), then Process 3 screen printing may be the best solution.
So, before I go any further let me clarify the different processes and quantities to help you select which process will be best for you.
If you haven’t watched the video at the top right of this page, I encourage you to view it. It’ll let you know in two and a half minutes what we are able to do.
We Offer Three Different Printing Processes.
Choose Which One Is Best For You
-Process 1-
If You Are Looking For White or Light Coloured Printed Tshirts with Full Colour Printing, Including Personalized T-shirts or Baseball Shirts, These Shirts are Available with Process 1
*ANY Quantity—No Minimum
Print text, graphics, images, photographs, team shirts with names and numbers, or other personalization.
If you want white or light coloured t-shirts you can order ANY quantity including just 1. Most people generally order between 12 – 150.
The choices for light colours are yellow haze, ash grey, ice grey, beige/natural, light blue, serene green or light pink.
“Process 1” Printed Tshirts
We refer to this printing process as our “Process 1″
It uses t-shirt transfer paper printed on with a colour laser printer. The image is then bonded to the t-shirt using an automated commercial heat press.
Now, this process is similar to the store bought “iron on” transfers, however the biggest difference is with a commercial heat press, all of the ink is pressed into the shirt instead of just most of the ink.
I remember when I first began making t-shirts back in the mid 1990′s I used the iron on transfers. I had to move the iron for 11 minutes and eve then when I peeled the transfer, not all of the ink was transfered to the t-shirt.
Some ink was still left on the paper.
With a heat press, the pressing time is 15 seconds and all of the ink is transferred to give a great looking print!
All of the materials that we use are the commercial grade which are generally
not available to the public through retail outlets since the t-shirt transfers must be applied to the t-shirt using a commercial heat press.
Using Process 1, t-shirts and baseball shirts can be personalized with individual names, numbers and/or text.
This is also a very cost effective way to have personalized t-shirts for a wedding or a stag or “staggette”.
It can work great for family reunions or simply to have your name under your business logo.
Since we can do smaller orders (on white and light coloured) t-shirts we can help you with your projects.
If you have a group of let’s say 8 people and you are involved in the Weekend to End Cancer walk or a run and you would like light pink t-shirts (ladies and/or men’s) with your own personal message – we can help you.
If you are involved in a cure for diabetes or JDRF and need a few t-shirts – we can help you.
If you are a principal or teacher at a school and you are overseeing an anti-bullying campaign, a musical or drama production, a science club, the choir, glee club, music or band, and would like some t-shirts – we can help you. In fact any school project that involves anywhere from 1 -25 people.
This is the beauty of being able to print just one or a few tee shirts on white and light colours. There is no minimum order. Only order what you need.
However, please be aware that if you need a much larger quantity of shirts we can also handle large orders.
Now, one final thing I’d like to point out is the lack of white ink in Process 1 printing.
There is no white ink in a colour laser printer so if your image has white such as the Canadian flag, the image would print red and transparent rather than red and white.
If the flag was printed on a pale green t-shirt, as in the example to the left, it would be red with a black outline and pale green.
-Process 2-
Dark T-shirts
or Any Coloured T-shirt That Requires White in the Graphic Can Be Printed Using Process 2
*ANY Quantity-No Minimum
Print Photos, CD covers, any artwork that can be trimmed.
Let’s say that you have a CD cover or a photo or that you want to put the Canadian flag on a dark t-shirt, this process is ideal.
This is a special transfer paper that is coated with white ink. When the image is printed with a colour laser printer, the image looks the same as if it was printed on white paper. However this transfer paper is opaque so when it is pressed onto the t-shirt it
looks colour correct.
Printing a CD cover or photograph would look the same as the original on the dark shirt. The Canadian flag would actually be red and white.
This process works on any colour t-shirt including light colours where having white is crucial.
However, and this is key, the image must be trim-able. As I said, these images are printed on a special “print to dark” t-shirt transfer paper. The paper is the standard 8 1/2″ x 11″. So this means that any areas around the image that didn’t print would have to be cut away.
So for example, if the actual size of the Canadian flag was 10″ wide x 6″ high, the excess paper would be cut away and discarded.
Now this is easy when the perimeter of the image is a square, rectangle, circle, oval or even an image with a shape that curves in and out but if you want white text only on the shirt this is a problem. Without a plotter, the letters cannot be trimmed.
Normally this type of request is screen printed (see Process 3) but there are minimum orders for screen printing.
However there is a solution if you only need a few.
The text can be set up graphically so that it can be trim-able. The example on the right has the text within a shaped graphic. The shaped graphic can be cut out and your message can be printed on just one or only a few.
-Process 3-
If You Require Dark T-shirts with white or a light colour ink or a larger quantity of one, two or a few colours on any colour of t-shirt – Screen Printing (Process 3)
* Minimum order 25 t-shirts
Tee shirt printing with just one or two colours of ink (up to 6 colours) on any colour of t-shirts.
To print text and some graphics on dark or black t-shirts screen printing may be required. This process can also be used for cost-effectively printing larger quantities on white or any colour of t-shirt.
To get an idea of what is involved in the screen printing process here’s a quick synopsis.
The screen itself looks very much like the screen in your window. The screens have an aluminum or wooden frame and the screen is stretched across the frame. However the mesh in these screens are much finer than in your window. In fact the material used to make these screens used to be silk, hence the term silk screening. Nowadays other materials are used instead of silk.
Next, the screen is coated with an emulsion (fluid) and then a transparency with the image or one of the colours in the image you want printed on the t-shirt, is placed on top of the screen. The screen and transparency are then placed into an exposure unit. When it is ready, the emulsion where the image is doesn’t dry so it is washed off. What is left is a “stensil”.
The screen is then put into a rack and lowered onto the t-shirt. A “gob” of ink is put on the screen and then it is spread on the screen using a squeegee filling the open areas with ink.
Each colour requires its own screen and if you have printing on the front of the t-shirt and printing on the back, a screen is required for each side. This means that if you had 2-colour printing on the front and 2-colour printing on the back, four screens would be required (unless the front and the back had the identical printing).
The shirts are then passed through a dryer to cure the ink.
We use a split screen method. In other words we have your image/graphic/lettering printed onto paper and then it is applied to the t-shirt again using an automated heat press. This not only applies the image to the t-shirt correctly but the heat also properly cures the ink.
In this process you have the choice of ink colour and can have from 1 – 6 different colours. There is a setup charge for each colour and t-shirts printed with just one colour are going to be less money than t-shirts with 2 colours, etc. Please remember, the more colours you have in your image the more expensive the printing.
There are so many variables in screen printing that it would be too difficult to publish a price list. To get a price quote you would need to send us an email outlining exactly what you want printed along with the image. We are unable to quote screen printing prices without seeing your image.
Now for screen printing the number of shirts you want and the number of colours in your design will significantly impact the price of each t-shirt.
The more t-shirts you want the less the price per t-shirt, however the more colours you want will increase the price per t-shirt.

Teams
We also have the ability to do screen printed personalized t-shirts. (The minimum order of 25 does apply).
If you have a team and want your team logo (or just a name in plain text) across the front of the shirt and individual names and numbers on the back we can do this for you.
Your front image can be whatever you choose and we have some font templates in a few selected font styles that we use for the back. The numbers will match the font style of the names.
We can also do league t-shirts.
We would need you to send us an email to give you a price quote.
